There are additional requirements for a conversion project:

Data mapping between systems – this ensures that the data is moved across according to the correct algorithms

Technical specifications associated with the mappings – you need to specify the extraction from the legacy system and
the upload to the new system

Data cleansing – this ensures the data being moved to the new system is correct and in the correct format

Systems Testing of both systems – to ensure that when the conversion is performed, the systems mesh together
correctly

Mock and Dress rehearsal testing – to give confidence that the conversion is working correctly and that everybody
knows what to do on the actual conversion day.

3-level reconciliation reporting

Level 1:  Horizontal reconciliation of key financials

Level 2:  Horizontal reconciliation of key non-financials

Level 3:  Vertical reconciliation of selected accounts

This ensures that data has been converted correctly, in line with the data mapping document, and retains its
integrity in the new system
It also provides an audit trail of the high profile data within the system i.e. that which is most likely to
cause
financial loss.
